Opinions wanted what the gasoline thing * is all this? – Any other ideas also appreciated the letters?

by David Bowie … Cat People songmeanings.com .. Doesn't say much ….. prefers his own opinion instead of links … See these eyes so green I can look for a thousand years cooler than the moon has been so long and I've been fighting fire with gasoline Feel my blood enraged It's just the fear of losing you do not know my name Well, you've been so long to see these eyes so red Red like jungle Burning Bright Those who feel close to me pull the blinds and change their mind has been so long Still this pulsing night A plague I call a heartbeat just follow me I do not believe what I've been through You've been so long Well it's been so long and I was fighting fire with gasoline to the fire with petrol watch these tears so blue An ageless heart that can never repair these tears can not drain a trial may never actually see those eyes turn green so you can stare for a thousand years just follow me

The song seems to be about loving someone in a way that takes them away. He loves this girl, but for her insecurities on the road. He thinks he's going to lose, so maybe he turns into jealousy (eyes so green) or fast in anger (as red eye). Regarding the "shutdown fire with gasoline, "it means you are doing something [in this case, love the girl] in a way that is only destructive. Turn off the heat means that the Treaty to love her but do it with the gas means that their attempts are being further apart. HTH
