Here you go: I can almost see that dream I'm dreaming, but there's a voice inside my head saying, "You'll never reach it" Every step I'm taking each move I make feels lost without direction, my faith is shaken But I keep trying I have to keep my head up always going to be another mountain I'm always going to want move it will always be an uphill battle sometimes I have to lose is not about how fast you get there is not what you're hoping the other side is the promotion, the struggles I'm facing The chances that I am taking can sometimes knock me down But no, I'm last minute not know, but these are the moments I'll remember much more when I can just go ahead and I have to be strong just keep pushing on 'cause that will always be another mountain that I will always want move it will always be an uphill battle sometimes I have to lose is not about how fast you get there is what is waiting in the other one is promotion, yes! There will always be another mountain always going to want to move it will always be someone who is an uphill battle to have to lose is not about how fast that getting there is not about what's waiting on the other side of the climb, if still in motion, keep climbing Keep the faith, baby It's all about, is all about the rise Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa Official Music Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG2zyeVRcbs Lyrics / Karaoke Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch? v = QNkrzRLJeU8 Instrumental / Piano: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2hXc2ZvXgo

Newlands Horseshoe Walk

Although normally a solitary wanderer on this occasion was accompanied by an old friend George. We had been friends for many years and in some of my more adventurous long distance walks George had supported over many routes. He had asked me many times to let him accompany me, and this time I gave!

The trip by the Pennines had been completed in bright sunshine, and though six in the morning, the temperature was already 60 years old and still growing. Wonderful!

Passing through Keswick entered the Newlands Valley and negotiated the narrow streets between Braithwaite and our starting point Little Town. The views over the lake region high along Newlands would be fantastic.

After some difficulty finding the way through the parking lot near Chapel Bridge we were on our way. The track took us to a saddle between Cat Bells left and Pena Bull Maiden Moor to our right. It was a strong pull upward from the top and George was finding things difficult. The sun was doing its job and that they shed a layer clothes as we climbed. The temperature is now over 70 degrees and rising! The views were very interesting and so got on the chair and then continued south more Knotts beyond a Bull Trap Crag. It was impossible not to look back this stretch, the views of Derwent Water, Keswick, Skiddaw and Blencathra are some of the best that is in the Lake District (see NW relevant Lake District OS Maps). Every time I stopped at the Bull Peña pulled up at the top of Maiden Moor looked back … and again and again. I could not get enough.

Finally I had to leave behind the view ecstasy as spending Bull Peña took from me. Now there was a walk to resume and what a ride. The next two miles were a delicious easy stroll through the ridge between Maiden Moor and High Spy. We were walking in the soil exposed to an altitude of 200 feet, but was toasted, 75 and keep rising! Minimum effort is needed now and soon came to High Spy.

George, now that looks like a boiled lobster, made reference to the downfall of up Dalehead Tarn and the steep climb from there up to Dale Head. The expression on his face was a picture, total disbelief, along with a very hurt! all the way complained, not curse me this warning suicide "mission" and vowing revenge. When we arrived we were both the Tarn and boiled the water was so attractive that does not need much persuasion to both to undress and take a brief skinny dip. Water breathless we initially but gradually settled to an acceptable level. Five minutes was enough. We dressed quickly, keeping an eye open for intruders, the sun that dries very quickly.

The sun blazed down and the temperature rose, must have been 90 degrees, the hottest day I walked in.

Properly maintained route up Dale Head was completed silent. Sitting next to the pile enjoy our sandwiches look back toward the valley was spectacular Newtown is one of my favorites of all points of view.

The view to the south, was equally dramatic in the transition Honister Straw, Pena Alta, High Stile and Red Pike. Pilar saw, my favorite odd Lakel. To the west Buttermere. The Scafells could be seen as well. It is a fantastic mountain location time.

After leaving Dale Head was an interesting section Hindscarth along Edge (Hindscarth is a massive mountain, a central spur in the shoe and an option in the foot) and then along Littledale Edge led us towards our final mountain, Robinson. Despite the term or Hindscarth Littledale Edge and offer no problems – the band is wide. The final section of Littledale Edge has also given us our third and final climb of the day, was given a little hard to climb 550 meters above half a mile. More places of interest to us in Robinson. Now we could see Crummock Water and Loweswater in the western end of the park. After a brief rest we left and walked Robinson in the most exciting phase of the trip. A sharp descent and a couple of occasions we had to shimmy down the mountain on our butts. It was exciting for me, (a word I do not use and George was mentioned in retrospect that they have never gone the route), not so much to George, not technically.

After the excitement Robinson's struggle to walk quickly loses its sense of high mountain as Snab Bank has been reached. The march is on the grassy slopes and not rocks. The views are still nice, but lost to the height is not as extensive. The horseshoe, earlier rose below us above what fell Bank High Snab to follow a path to Low High Snab. After high buildings Snab song became the asphalt road and continue past the wood to reach Gilbrow Little Town Chapel. We admire the building according to an announcement was once a school house. I can not imagine that once was filled to capacity – this is the quietest of the valleys. After the chapel we were soon back in the car, our journey done fantastic.

It was a relief to the change in fresh clothes and socks. Taking the boots pores could sweat that had accumulated in extreme temperatures. Our shirts and underwear were saturated with sweat and it was wonderful to have clothes that smells bad.

Changed in the car, at home. Before leaving George home outside we call in our favorite hotel in the real ale and Ken, the Administrator, served a couple of pints of their best. He gave us a quizzical look, as he did! "I hope you are only having one," said "You look as an illegal immigrant couple and it stinks to high heaven. I will lose business if you say too much support and be out, "he said. I say no more, the look was wonderful and, George I was looking to see Ken's point of view. It was recorded a dark brown and really had a buzz around it.

As a footnote, never George again asked to join me on a ride but he often remembered the occasion and the lyricism of the virtues of it – time is great healer!
