Calling all composers, the New York Composers Circle needs you!

The September 30 deadline for the submission of Song Author of New York 'Circle (NYSC) annual Songwriting Contest is quickly approaching. For over 18 years of notable artists as Vanessa Carlton, Norah Jones, Gavin DeGraw, Jesse Harris, Lisa Loeb, Charlotte Sometimes, Avril Lavigne, John Oates and Chris Barron (Spin Doctors of) have been part of this circle legendary. The winner of this year's grand prize will take home more than $ 15,000 in cash and prizes, including a performance point of the world famous Madison Square Garden, The Live Nation – Jones Beach concert series, recording sessions with Grammy award winning producer Glenn Barett and more. The winner also Jonathan Clarke will be presented in highly rated "Out of the Box" radio show in New York's most popular classic Rock station, Q104.3. For the first time, the NYSC will award two additional prizes in the final competition, an international award for an outstanding songwriter from anywhere outside the U.S., and a young writer award, for ages 8-18 composers.

The New York Songwriters Circle contest annually gives performers the rare opportunity to showcase their music live in front of the best professionals in the music industry and music fans excited as part of the New York Composers Circle ongoing series windows in Philadelphia (at World Café Live), Boston (at Johnny D's in Somerville), and the legendary Bitter End in Greenwich Village New York. Past winners the competition include Kate Voegele, (now star of the hit TV series "One Tree Hill") and "Company of Thieves" (recently break nominated artist in Billboard Magazine).

Final Live events on November 5th and 6th at the Bitter End in New York will spotlight the twelve finalists the competition and are rare guest appearances by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Marc Cohn and Indie music sensation Dave Barnes. Apart from its own impressive music catalog, Marc Cohn has worked with such notable artists as Tracy Chapman, Jackson Browne, David Crosby, Shawn Colvin and many more. Today Dave Barnes is touring with "Los Lonely Boys" and has achieved both critical and commercial success as an indie artist.

The panel of judges includes Grammy The award-winning producer Russ Titelman, 785 Records / Publishing and Denise Rich Songs Mark Eichner, Rolling Stone and contributor to New York Magazine and author John Colapinto and many more.
